HikaShop and Joomla Performance E-mail
Written by Codernaut
Here at QuantumCritics.com, we are constantly using different pieces of software to develop and/or redevlop software solutions for our customers. Over the years, customers seeking a Content Management System and eCommerce solution have easily fit into our "Joomla + Virtuemart" customer category. From time to time, things change which require us to seek different software to meet our customers' needs. The release of Joomla 2.5.x (and Joomla 3.x) coupled with Virtuemart being very slow to catch up to Joomla 2.5.x forced us to see a different eCommerce solution. We have settled on HikaShop Business as the eCommerce solution going forward. I will give you the good, bad, and the ugly for HikaShop Business so you can decide if it is right for you.

Windows Live Mail (WLM) vs Mozilla Thunderbird E-mail
Written by Codernaut
I have been looking for my "once and for all" mail client solution and frustration has been the name of the game! I used over 50 imap mail accounts to test both programs. I know I know I know, why 50 accounts?? Well, I have that many accounts I need to keep up with and there are actually more. I figured 50 would really test the programs to the max. Needless to say, it did not even take anywhere near 50 to start seeing who our winner would be in this battle for Desktop Mail Client Supremacy!

Washington Wizards Draw Guns on each other Washington Wizards All Star guard Gilbert Arenas and 3rd year player, Javaris Crittenton, drew guns on each other during a dispute over a gambling debt. We can guess that Arenas must have owed Crittenton the money as Gilbert should have way too much money to be asking Crittenton to pay up for a debt!

Tiger Woods and the Muscles! Well, it appears the ugly truth about Tiger Woods is only a trial away from being completely exposed. Tiger Woods is now linked to a Toronto doctor, Dr. Anthony Galea, known for providing athletes with performance enhancing drugs, most notably, Human Growth Hormone (HGH).

Postmodernism appears to usually be defined in terms of modernism and modernity. Sometimes there is confusion about whether postmodernism is a concept or a practice. It also seems to be a moving target when trying to conceptualize its forms, effects, etc. Post modernism can also be defined by just looking at the words post and modernism separately.

The Backlash E-mail
Written by Danielle Whitelow
November 4th, 2008 was a momentous night for me. Though Candidate Obama gave lovely speeches, I didn't share his ideals and did not vote for him. However by about 7pm, it was clear that Barack Obama was going to be the 44th President of the United States of America. This left me feeling very conflicted. I couldn't help but feel a bit euphoric. I've never been one of those Black Conservatives that denies their heritage and pretends America is happily colorblind. I knew that Obama's election was a watershed moment that could not be denied. I reflected on my Grandma's stories of growing up under Jim Crow. I thought of my Mom's story of her first trip to Mississippi in 1968, an experience that disturbed her so much that she never set foot in that state again. And I wished that they had lived long enough to see that night, for I know they would have shed tears of joy.

Feature Omissions

Steve Jobs showed off the new Apple iPad this week and the million dollar question is "will it be the Netbook killer?" I would think no and for a number of reasons. I can not believe Apple released such a blah blah blah product after their recent successes with the iPod and iPhone. So we will get past the obvious worse name choice they could have made and dive into the other items that will make it hard for the iPad to be a major success.

The topic on theory and education starts of defining theory and going in to the history of it’s beginnings as well as what Greek word theory is derived from. As a hypothetical group of guidelines and protocol that can control what is followed in practice, theories help predict what is likely to happen. Theory is also looked at as a frame of reference that can direct what is put into practice. Frame of reference can be formed by using experience or figuring out through a set of assumptions.

Distance education, or distance learning, is a field of education that focuses on the pedagogy and andragogy, technology, and instructional systems design that aim to deliver education to students who are not physically "on site". According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, “is a process to create and provide access to learning when the source of information and the learners are separated by time and distance, or both.” In other words, distance learning is the process of creating an educational experience of equal qualitative value for the learner to best suit their needs outside the classroom. Rather than attending courses in person, teachers and students may communicate at times of their own choosing by exchanging printed or electronic media, or through technology that allows them to communicate in real time and through other online ways.
