A world of knowledge has changed since the start of the last century. Before 1900 it was not known that there were other galaxies. The Milky Way was thought to be the entire universe. But by 1930 Einstein and Hubble had altered our concepts of known space. But how has that change impacted the Bible and the supposed creator of this expanded universe?
Many atheists have simply thrown religious concepts into the trash and regard believers as delusional. And some things in the Bible are almost never mentioned by the religious. Have you heard that there is a controversy over who wrote The Epistle to the Hebrews? Most say it was St. Paul but there are reasons to doubt it. One involves a mystery man named Melchizedek.
Hebrews 7:3 creates some confusion between denominations regarding Melchizedek's nature and background. The King James Version says:
"Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually."
Different denominations interpret this in vastly different ways. Some say that Melchizedek is literally like the Son of God (or even is the Son of God) in that he has no father or mother. Others say that he has been adopted into Christ's lineage through the Lord's suffering, still others claim that the verse has been mistranslated, and that the Priesthood Melchizedek held is what is without lineage, not Melchizedek.
But are there any other possibilities in the light of 20th century physics?
You realize of course that I am not responsible for your sanity beyond this point?
Melchizedek is mentioned a total of eleven times in the Bible. Nine of them occur in The Epistle to the Hebrews. The other two are in Genesis and Psalms which could not possibly have been written by Paul. So with all of the unquestioned Pauline works having no mention of the mystery man, why would Paul suddenly go Melchizedek crazy in one book? In addition to the sudden peculiar fixation, Hebrews is written in a style of Greek totally out of character for Paul. The encyclopedia Britannica says, "The language of Hebrews is extremely polished, elegant and cultured Greek, the best in the New Testament." So how could Paul greatly improve his language for just one work?
So what does this have to do with 20th century physics and Star Trek?
To see the relationship you need to know about another peculiar character mentioned in Hebrews by the name of Enoch.
KJV: By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
You see Enoch was also mentioned in Genesis even before Melchizedek. But his life got peculiar toward the end while Melchizedek's was peculiar at the beginning.
21 When Enoch had lived sixty-five years, he became the father of Methu'selah. 22 Enoch walked with God after the birth of Methu'selah three hundred years, and had other sons and daughters. 23 Thus all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. 24 Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.
Enoch is mentioned elsewhere in the New Teastment and it points out that his was the 7th generation after Adam.
14 It was of these also that Enoch in the seventh generation from Adam prophesied, saying, "Behold, the Lord came with his holy myriads, 15 to execute judgment on all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness which they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him."
So Enoch appeared very early on in Biblical history and was the first of three people to "walk with God". And the next to the last book of the Bible points out the number of his generation.
So what possible link can there be between Enoch and Melchizedek?
Now if God is all knowing and all powerful and created the universe as we know it today, by whatever means over whatever time, then He must have known about what we call Relativity. Einstein would have merely figured out something that God built into the universe. So since time can flow at different speeds it is only reasonable to assume that an all powerful God should be able to control those rates and create time warp bubbles for special needs and occasions.
So we have a case of a special person disappearing and not dying through Godly machinations and another special person appears out of nowhere as an adult with No Mother. So suppose God popped Enoch into one of these time warp bubbles and one day goes by for Enoch and 2000 years go by on Earth. God then lets Enoch out and Enoch tells everyone his name is Melchizedek. So he arrived on Earth as a fully grown adult without being born into that time period. NO MOTHER!
Now you might say that is somewhat of a cheat since Enoch was in fact born, but before 1900 who would have had any idea about time dilation and warp bubbles? How could it be explained? Why does the King James say Enoch was "translated"? How do you translate a human being? Translate them through time?
Now another aspect of this special person business is two ancient texts not included in the European Bible, The Book of Enoch and The Book of the Secrets of Enoch. These are regarded as non-Biblical by plenty of people but this raises the question of what is the occult? All it really means is hidden knowledge or just hidden. But who is doing the hiding and why? Was it the Catholic Church persecuting people who possessed knowledge the Church wanted destroyed so these people had to hide from persecution of the Church? Who was really the villian of the last 1500 years? The books are included in the Ethiopian Bible but the Ethiopians were cut off from European influence for centuries by the rise of Islam.
Some of the confusion about Melchizedek is the result of descriptions of him which portray him as very similar to Jesus Christ. But if you check The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ you will find Enoch, Melchizedek and JC described as Avatars of their respective Ages but there is no explanation for the arrival of Melchizedek. The time warp bubble is my sci-fi twist. I just regard it as speculation but the more I think about it the more I like it. But if that is what really happened then what does that say about conventional Christianity?
JC was the avatar of the Piscean age which accounts for the fish symbol of Christianity. Melchizedek was the avatar of the age of Aries. And Enoch was the man for the Taurian Age. Another 2000 years have gone by and the 5th Dimension has warned us about the dawning of the Age of Aquarius. Do the Christians have their count wrong and this is really the FOURTH coming that is due?
The number SEVEN appears to be quite significant in the Bible. The six day creation with God resting on the SEVENTH day. The Hebrews marching around Jericho SEVEN times. Melchizedek's lack of birth in the THIRD verse of the SEVENTH chapter of Hebrews. Add the perfect world number FOUR to the perfect divine number, THREE, and get SEVEN, the most sacred number to the Hebrews. SEVEN is used over 700 times in the Bible. It is used 54 times in the Book of Revelation.
Now The Original Star Trek series ran for THREE seasons. The next THREE Star Trek series ran for SEVEN seasons, Next Generation, Deep Space 9 and Voyager. The supposedly unsuccessful Enterprise lasted FOUR seasons. So the THREE at the start plus the FOUR at the end results in FOUR SEVENS.
Of course we must not forget that Star Trek began in '66. The SEVENTH year of the SEVENTH decade. Fourty years later there were just over 700 episodes of Trek. But it is because of the success of Star Wars that Star Trek was brought back. Star Wars was released in 1977.
Christians say LOGOS means word but it's relationship to LOGIC is quite obvious.
As Mr. Spock would say, "Fascinating!"
So this ends your visit to The Twilight Zone. You may now return to The Matrix of the Roman's so called civilization.
