The Tarheels took it on the chin last night as the Kansas Jayhawks dismantled them. Kansas actually took their collective feet off the Tarheel's necks to let them breathe for a while but put the pedal to the metal to finish the game. Now the question still remains ... will Roy Williams ever win a championship with "his" players?
The answer to this question is a resounding HELL NO!! The UNC Chapel Hill folks will have to bring Madd Matt Daughrety back as a recruiter before they will win another championship. Roy Williams is not the type of coach who can get you to the promise land AND bring home the prize.
He always had an excuse at Kansas because his recruits were big, slow talent that could not play full court pressure basketball in the NCAA tournament. Now he has turned the new look Tarheels into the same type of team. Full throttle all year and they run out of gas at the end. Tarheel fans, get used to it because this may be as far as your team gets for a long time with Roy Williams as your coach!
If the NCAA forces these teams to play 30 games or less in the regular season, William's approach to basketball could work. He is arrogant enough to be a championship coach. he is annoying enough in his interviews to be a championship coach. However, the pedal to the medal approach will not work with today's basketball seasons stretching 30-40 games. Sure you have 18-22 year olds out there running, but their bodies and more importantly, their minds are not yet ready to handle a 35 game season with full court pressure each and every time up and down the floor.
Coach K at Duke and Roy Williams at UNC Chapel Hill both have great regular season strategies but will not be successful in bringing home NCAA titles until they change their recruiting or game philosophies!

It's is the NBA that changed the games.
