A federal court judge sentenced Michael Vick to 23 months in prison for his role in dog fighting. Finally this portion of the hoopla is over and Vick can begin serving his harsh sentence. The punishment does NOT fit the crime in this case. However, it should serve as an example to others who may be out there fighting dogs for sport ... fight/mistreat/abuse/oppress HUMANS, not dogs! You will receive far less punishment for mistreating humans than you will for mistreating animals.
Michael Vick will probably never play quarterback again in the NFL. He could probably still come out of prison and possibly play NFL football. He could probably become a running back or wide receiver if he does not gain too much weight in prison. He probably won't gain fat weight, but he will gain muscle weight because he will lift so much. There will be no trainer to help him stay small enough to be the explosive player he was when in previous years. Vick will be 30 when he gets out of prison ... Falcon's ownership left the question open when asked if a situation existed where Vick could come back to the Falcons. Face it, Vick put butts in the seats and that is the NFL's bottom line, dollar signs!
