The Vice Presidential Debate was great TV and the participants lived up to the hype.
Senator Joe Biden clearly won, but Govenor Sarah Palin did not fall flat on her pretty face as we
all expected she would.
The debate started terribly for Sarah Palin as Joe Biden came out hitting hard. The
stumbling, mumbling moderator, Gwen Ifill, did not help either to help things go along
smoothly. I think they could have placed a rock at the moderator's table and it would
have performed just as well as Ifill. As bad as she was tonight, who will read her
book about Barack Obama set to be released on the same day he will be sworn in as President?
Did I just say on the same day Barack Obama is sworn in? Did the
Vice Presidential debate make that much of a difference? I think so. Biden did
everything a Vice President should do ... protect #1 and attack the other #1. Palin
was more interested in trying to patch the damage done to the McCain-Palin ticket with
her earlier interviews which she so badly botched. Palin, to her credit, did
exceptionally well in the debate, but not good enough to win. She may have even tricked
a few people into voting for she and McCain with her actions and words. She almost
tricked me in to jumping off the Independent fence when she winked at me a few times.
Huh, did I just say Sarah Palin winked at me? Yes I did! And yes she did!
She winked at America at least 2 times during the debate. Her down to earth, I am one of you
tone tonight really touched me and had me leaning towards the Republican ticket.
However, Biden being the experienced politician he is, knew he had to kill the momentum Palin
was building up as the debate went on and she became more comfortable. Biden brought up the
story of his first wife and daughter dying in a car accident and he had to raise his sons
as a single father. Joe even got a lump in his throat and was on the brink of tears as he
tried to describe how it feels to know your kid may not make it. This anvil fell right on sarah
Palin's wagon full of sad, emotional, touching stories.
Poof!! Joe's story and actions quickly straightened me up on the fence! So I am still holding
my vote with Joe Biden having first dibs on it. I was so impressed with Biden. We knew what
he was bringing to the table and darn it (sorry Sarah Palin, I had to do it) he brought it.
No surprises with Joe Biden and he showed America he is a rock solid politician and is well
suited to be Vice President of the United States of America!
