John McCain was losing his bid for the presidency to Obama due to Obama's rockstar status, Obamba's extraordinary speaking ability, and the fact Obama and Hillary Clinton had ran historic campaigns!
The Republican had run at best, a boring campaign up to this point. With McCain's choice for VP, Sarah Palin will add history to McCain's campaign as well. Not only does Palin add historical value to the Republican ticket, but it allows Hillary Clinton supporters, mostly middle aged white women, to still be part of history by electing a woman to the most powerful position they have ever held in American history. Palin also makes it harder for Biden, Obama's choice for VP, to be the bulldog everyone predicted he would be. Just as no one can comment on Obama's race, no one will be able to touch Palin's gender.
Unfortunately, Palin brings the unknown and inexperienced factors to McCain's ticket. However, the unknown and inexperience is at the VP level and not at the Presidential level.
Looks like McCain can safely and confidently raise his hand to be sworn in as the next president of the United States!
