However, having the richest franchise does not necessarily make you the BEST franchise in the NFL. After watching football this decade and reviewing the history of the NFL, the best NFL franchise is clearly the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers are number 18 on the list of the richest franchises, but the Steelers symbolize what America is really about, or at least what made America great and what America used to be all about. 6 Super Bowl rings and no big time free agent pickups shows the dedication and hard work the Steelers' organization is willing to put forth every year to ensure their fans get the best football team money doesn't have to buy!

The Pittsburgh Steelers have put a good product on the field year after year without breaking the bank , a practice America's team, the Dallas Cowboys would know nothing about. Jerry Jones buys high dollar free agent after high dollar free agent in his pathetic attempts to buy superbowls. Unfortunately Jerry Jones hasn't figured out all these egotistical monsters still have to eventually play a grueling 16 game NFL season!

Recently, even the New England Patriots went down this road but found out that spending hundreds of millions does not guarantee anything on the field. A 16-0 regular season only to be beaten in the Super Bowl by a New York Giants free agent pickup, Plaxico Burress who was consequently let go by the Pittsburgh Steelers! The Steelers saw the talent Burress possessed, but he did not fit their mold of team player ... the Giants got lucky and got their Super Bowl with Burress before the truth really reared its ugly head with a hold out by Burress and Burress later shooting himself in the leg!

The Pittsburgh Steelers have plugged all the holes left by big named free agents and kept the train rolling. Joey Porter leaves, plug in James Harrison, the Defensive Player of the Year in the NFL and probably the MVP of the Super Bowl had the Steelers won any other way besides a spectacular catch by Santonio Holmes of a laser beam pass by Ben Roethlisberger.

Number 18 in the money, but number 1 on the list for bang for the buck, pound for pound best franchise in the NFL.

you obviously do not know football man... this is so lame... some of these teams that are ranked higher than the raiders haven't even won a super bowl. why the raiders aren't top 10 is beyond me. heres my top ten.1 Pittsburgh 2 San Francisco 3 Dallas 4 Chicago 5 Green Bay 6 Oakland 7 Washington 8 Indianapolis 9 New York and 10 Patriots. these teams have won 3 or more super bowls and average 8 or more hall of famers these are the best nfl franchises and most respected. i am a raider fan so if you think i rated them too high look at their history and winning percentage since they've emerged. even these past 7 years with a wining percentage a little over 0.250 still one of the best shows how a team can still be in a funk and still be considered one of the best!
