Every now and then, we here at Quantum Critics hand out the Dummy Award to the person who did or keeps doing dumb stuff. Our winners are usually politicians or athletes. Today, we deviate ever so slightly from the norm as Robert E. Murray has decided he wants to be the dumb ass to receive the award.
 Robert E. Murray, president and chief executive officer of Murray Energy Corp., has shown the world he is truly a dumb ass.  Immediately after the Crandall Canyon mine collapsed in Utah, trapping six workers, he opened his big mouth and shouted "America, I am a dumb ass and I want every one of you to know that!"
First, Bob Murray went to great lengths to prove the accident was caused by an earthquake. Hmmm, your guys are trapped in the mine, who cares what caused the mine to collapse? Furthermore, the proof is in that there was no earthquake and Bob Murray is wrong.
Next, Bob Murray used the press conference held after the mine collapse to get in a plug for the Coal industry. Wow, your workers are trapped, probably dead, and you are advertising and lobbying for your industry. What a jerk! First he denies it is his fault for his company's unsafe mining practices and then he prefers advertising over human health and well-being.
If that was not enough, Robert E. Murray uses the press conference to talk about how much money he has spent bringing in all this high tech equipment to drill down and rescue the trapped workers. He threw out a bunch of dollar figures but I was just too disgusted with this man to try and remember them all. Bob Murray, since you are so rich, how about buying some robots to do your mining? You know they exist, right? I can't believe the coal mining industry still sends humans into these mines with the hardhat lights and pickaxes.
What is really sad here is that Robert E. Murray is one of the rich people in America who drives politics. Isn't it scary to think this out of control nut is having a huge say in what is presented to the rest of America? He has so much money and influence, the mine safety people find problems with his mines and let him go. Let's shut this fool down, and fast before he kills more people. Too late, he already killed 3 more people trying to rescue the original six miners. Robert E. Murray is a rich, mad man and he is out of control!
Robert E. Murray, what were you thinking sending these men into your run down, unsafe mines?
I know what you are thinking ... "Uhhhh, *pointing fingers at everyone else*, uhhhh, *lobbying for energy industry tax breaks* I want that Uhhhhh, Quantum Critics Dumbass Award this week." Well Robert E. Murray, you got it buddy. Congratulations on being the Quantum Critics Dumb Ass of the week! |
