I woke up this morning and refreshed my Google AdWords campaign to check yesterday's stats. Well, lo and behold, there's an invite to try the new user interface for AdWords. I feel honored so I accepted the invite and began using the new interface.

Well, Google has some work to do on this new interface and I do truly hate the way Google is attempting to become the new Microsoft. Google write new apps or 'improve' already functioning apps and FORCE their users to upgrade their browsers to be able to use the new and/or improved applications. As soon as I log into the new interface, I get a huge popup stating my browser is not compatible with the new AdWords interface and I have to use Firefox 3, Internet Explorer 7, or Google Chrome (there's a surprise).

Well, I ignored the upgrade warning and proceeded to use the new interface which closely resembles the Microsoft AdCenter interface. WTF! What is Google thinking about here? I use Google because they are not Microsoft, but everything Google is attmepting lately is a Microsoft-like practice! I might as well use Microsoft AdCenter if I want a big, javascript heavy, most web browsers incompatible, slow ad management web interface!

No way they could switch the old interface to this new interface and lose that much speed. So I reluctantly upgraded my browser to Firefox 3 and proceeded to go back to the new Google AdWords interface. WOW! My Firefox memory jumped from 200MB to 300MB with just a few clicks on the new interface. Google Chrome is still thinking about what it wants to do with the new interface! There is just too much AJAX and Javascript on these new pages for me to want to use this new interface right now. I am looking for a way to opt back out of this new web interface for Google AdWords as my campaigns are unmanageble with all the work I have to do with my browsers. I can't dedicate a whole browser session just to use Google AdWords which is probably how Google is testing this new interface.
