The NBA playoffs have been very good this season with at least 7 game series in each round. Both game 7's on Sunday were laughers, but game 7's nonetheless. We are left with the final four and I do believe the 4 best teams are the four still playing. Let's get to the 3rd round and preview the matchups.
Chris Morrow breaks down the 3rd round matchups for you and predicts who will win each series. Not only who will win, but the number of games it will take to win the series.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Orlando Magic
The Orlando Magic pulled off the upset and beat the depleted Boston Celtics in 7 games. Well, now comes the real fun when they face the Cleveland Cavaliers who have annihilated everybody in their path so far. Since the Magic are riding high from their beatdown of the Celtics (minus Garnette) they will win a game or two, maybe. If Cleveland plays like Cleveland is capable of playing each and every night, I see a blowout series. Orlando took the season series 2-1, but the playoffs are totally different. Orlando has the most talented team from top to bottom, but they are missing something, I don't know what it is, but it is keeping me from picking them to upset Cleveland.
Cleveland takes the series, 4-1 but don't be surprised to see a sweep!

Los Angeles Lakers vs Denver Nuggets
The Lakers are coming off a lackluster performance against the Houston Rockets where they should have put the Rockets away in 5 or 6 at the most, but went to an ugly 7th game. With the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of the Lakers, they can't really expect to beat the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets are playing as well as anyone in the playoffs and will be a formidable opponent for the Lakers. Unfortunately, I think the Lakers are going to wake up in this series since they have a serious opponent. Denver will probably get rattled and lose their cool and composure at some point, even with Billups at the help, and kaboom!!!!!!!!!! there goes the series.
Lakers take the series, 4-2. |
