Well, we didn't get the matchup I am sure the NBA, Nike, and most fans were hoping for, but we should have an exciting 2009 NBA Finals anyways. The Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers made lunch meat out of the Cavs and Nuggets respectively. The Cavs and Nuggets proved to be Fool's Gold once faced with adversity and folded like baby strollers before being put in the minivan for transport. The Cavs and Nuggets were both transported home while the Lakers and Magic both closed out in impressive fashion in 6th game blowouts!
What is very interesting about this series is the fact that Orlando swept the season series against the Lakers, 2-0. The Magic won the season series against the Lakers just as they won the season series against Cleveland and we see what happened to Cleveland. But not so fast ... the Lakers are a more experienced, better led group. Phil Jackson, Kobe Bryant, and Gasol won't make the same mistakes game after game after game the way Mike Brown, LeBron James, and ... hmmm, there you go. LeBron had absolutely no help in his series against the Magic whereas Kobe's supporting cast will. Kobe has more help against Dwight Howard who really isn't ready to be considered a super-duper-star in the league the way Cleveland's big men made him look. The Lakers front court is more athletic, younger, and have better all around basketball skills than Cleveland.
Orlando has the talent to win this series, but they just are experienced enough right now to pull it off. Look for the Lakers to walk away with the championship in 6 games.
Lakers take the series 4-2. |
