I was invited to attend SPARKcon 2009 in Raleigh, NC tonight by the artists of DRC144k, a conscious clothing line, who would be gracing the event with their Fall 2009 fashions. The DRC Clothing Company boasts the concept of "It is cool to be conscious" and are continually bringing attention to global social, environmental, and political issues through cool clothing. The DRC Clothing Company, founded in 2004, was started by Congalese-Americans and has grown into full blown social networking clothing cooperative. The company now boasts a few years of clothing lines, a social networking community and an online store for DRC144k followers to share ideas and purchase clothing. The company has participated in SPARKcon for the past 4 years.

SPARKcon is a grass roots initiative that showcases local talent, and talent shows up in abundance! I was highly impressed with all the creative minds I met in Raleigh at SPARKcon 2009. Fashion designers, music bands, young creatives, older creatives ... Raleigh was the creative hub of the southeast this past weekend! All the participants were overwhelmingly talented this year and the DRC Clothing Company held its own against all its creative fashion peers. Tony Mercer, a DRC artist residing in Raleigh, comments in the following video about the SPARKcon event.

The event was an event I was glad I attended. Although the event was hyped as a local event, the atmosphere was global. The fashion show was the biggest draw at the event and did not disappoint. The runway was filled with talented models and props to DRC for the invite. I would have never attended a SPARKcon if they had not invited me. A+ to SPARKcon 2009

If you attended, please chime in and let us know what you thought of the event.
