According to some scientists, global warming is affecting the NFL.
As reported on NFL Today, when the weather is warmer the ball goes farther during kick offs and punts. Another affect of this is the increase in touchbacks. The warm weather has also caused returned kicks to be returned farther. Considering all this, and returners like Devin Hester and Tedd Ginn Jr taking returns over 50 yards or more, alot of teams are investing more in returners whether they are trying to draft them, or working on the ones they have.
