I was truly amazed to see today that women are dead lifting/power lifting weight that is twice their body weight!

Don't be discouraged by this missed attempt as the competitor who failed to lift it was not discouraged! She came back less than 2 minutes later and lifted the weight over her head easily! Watch for these girls to make a good showing at the Olympics.

As a man, I was first thinking, wow, these are beautiful women doing what rough, not so good looking guys used to do. I was glad to see they had their own weightlifting category in the Olympics. I am glad they didn't have to compete directly with men so I could appreciate their efforts more.

Unlike Patrick in racing, they don't have to compete with men to be classified as winners or to judge their success. You see a 53Kg woman lifting 106Kg of weight, that is impressive! That is equivalent (in my mind) to a 250lb man lifting 500lbs over his head!

Hooray for women as they
